In Hangzhou, there is such a "high-tech" system: cameras and sensors are installed at intersections to analyze current and subsequent traffic flow, thereby controlling traffic light changes to achieve intelligent transportation. What would happen if such technology were applied to factory logistics?

Recently, to better understand the client's products and grasp the highlights of their equipment, and thus precisely customize animation videos for the client, Lao Qiu visited Fujian Fangguang Shengshi Information Technology Co., Ltd., and decided to discuss the feasibility of IGV logistics robots and production line linkage with the company's person in charge.

How to Ensure Safety with Mixed Human and Vehicle Traffic?

An IGV is an intelligent guided transport vehicle. When it enters a production line workshop where workers are operating, it's akin to an autonomous vehicle operating on city roads. Will autonomous transport vehicles avoid each other? Will there be collisions between vehicles and pedestrians? Before new equipment is put into use, its safety is undoubtedly a crucial metric to be examined.

Built-in Sensors Plan Safe Distances

To prevent "accidents," every IGV in use is equipped with millimeter-wave radar and visual sensors to define a specific safety range around the vehicle. If an obstacle breaches this safety distance, the IGV's safety system will be triggered, causing the IGV to brake automatically.

"Each project is different. The weight and size of the goods, and the condition of the floor all affect the sliding distance of the vehicle after braking. We adjust the set safety distance based on the specifics of each project to ensure that even if the goods tip over, they won't hit nearby workers," stated the person in charge of Fangguang Shengshi.

Lights + Music for Comprehensive Early Warning

Fangguang Shengshi's IGVs use sensors with millisecond-level sensitivity. Additionally, to prevent workers from accidentally entering the IGV's safety zone due to blind spots, all IGV units are equipped with onboard music alerts. As the vehicle moves, it continuously provides warnings to the surroundings through music playback, flashing lights, and other methods, maximizing the effectiveness of alerts and ensuring worker safety.

Lao Qiu from Xun Cheng Technology pointed out: "Currently, AGV equipment has higher market recognition. Before today's in-depth discussion, just looking at the appearance, I couldn't imagine that IGVs had so many aspects worth exploring. Therefore, using animation to showcase these advantages that cannot be directly observed by the naked eye is very important for the promotion of new equipment."
